Founding Team:
The team has been working full time out of an office based in Seoul, Korea for the past year building out ARKPIA.
Founder and CEO Yohan Choi has over 25 years’ experience as an art director for multiple large-scale exhibitions, winning the Red Dot Design Award in 2020. He's incredibly well-connected within the art world.
Funding and Partnerships:
ARKPIA has secured $2.5M funding from Korea’s biggest VC, Korean Investment Partners, as well as Neowiz, a global game development and distribution company.
ARKPIA has ties with billion-dollar companies who have committed to purchasing certain percentage of their future collections.
ARKPIA has also partnered with Chainlink and Intella X to support their endeavors.
ARKPIA is currently working on major partnerships with one of top 3 K-Pop agencies for K-Pop contents and one of the greatest of all time Japanese animation studios for anime contents. They have been planning to expand beyond fine art and are in talks with the most valuable sports agency as well.
Artists:
ARKPIA currently has 7 artist drops lined up for 2023. However, the team is constantly expanding their pool of artists and are working on bringing in over 60+ artists into their world from varying art niches.
Currently these are the 7 artists;
1. Pop Artist - Charles Jang: Charles gained recognition globally through a variety of activities using paintwork. He has collaborated with clothing retailer UNIQLO as well as luxury fashion brand MCM. His works have also sold for up to $7,000 in auctions.
2. Film Director and Screenwriter – Jung Byung-Gil: Hollywood has coined him a master of action thrillers through such films as “The Villainess” and “Confession of Murder” (He won the 50th Grand Bell Awards in 2013 for). He has been working closely with Hideo Kojima (GOAT game creator with 3.5mil followers).
3. Illustrator and Fine Artist – Sarah Beetson: Sarah’s art covers a wide spectrum of topics including fashion, the environment, gender, culture and politics. Selected as one of the top emerging artists by Saatchi Art, Sarah has collaborated with such brands as IKEA, Ford, Adidas, MAC, and Delta Airlines.
4. Visual Artist - Ben Ouaniche: Ben’s impressive skills and dedication to capturing moments with film techniques and his visual engineering abilities led to collaborations with top companies such as Google, Hennessey, and McDonald's. His YouTube channel (Macro Time) has over 1.85 mil followers showcasing his cinematographic works, racking up 1 billion views + cumulatively.
5. Public Artist – Florentijn Hofman: Florentijn’s creativity and innovation as a sculptor is internationally recognized through his extravagant displays of fable-like characters in unexpected places, especially the iconic Rubber Duck. He managed to sell his Rubber Duck HK tour sculpture for $41,935 at auction.
6. Illustrator – Gabriel Hollington: Gabriel’s bold and simple style was influenced by pop culture, graffiti and cartoons. He has showcased many works through his collaboration with brands such as VANS, Nickelodeon, UBS bank, IKEA, and The New York Times.
7. Illustrator - Dan Woodger: Dan Woodger has collaborated with leading brands such as Apple, Pepsi, Samsung, Line, and Netflix for his bright, colorful animations and fun character-based works. In particular, he has gained significant recognition throughout Asia for his LINE messenger emoticon creation.
