Intro to The Pals Universe
The Pals are a collection of 4,444 1/1 hand-drawn NFTs by street artist Sean Webster. Yes, EVERY character in the collection is hand drawn by Sean, with generative traits added to match each Pal's unique style and personality. These happy little fellas reflect the raw creativity bouncing around inside us all and are here to help us channel our emotions into a positive creative outlet.
Without darkness, however, we cannot have the light. The Foes are born of Sean’s fears, self-doubt and uncertainty within this hostile world. This dark side is integral to the creation of art and inextricably linked to our good nature. Although The Foes like to indulge in a little chaos, they are much a part of us as The Pals. Finding balance between the two is crucial for a happy, creative human being.
Alongside Sean (Founder/Artist), the team behind The Pals Universe includes Cool Matt (Community Manager/Advisor) and Metaseed Labs (Dev Team).
About Sean
Sean Webster is a 20 year old already well on his way to becoming a leading figure in the art world. Sean is a former Instagram Arts Ambassador and Liverpool Artist Of The Year Finalist. Having sold out his debut show in 2021, he went on to exhibit in Cass Art – the UK’s largest art supply retailer - who he is the proud Ambassador of, and Bold Street Coffee - Liverpool’s most popular coffee spot. Also appearing in two of the Willow Foundation’s Stars on Canvas London exhibitions – which raised money for ill young adults – Sean’s star has risen astronomically.
With a near-manic work ethic, he has risen to prominence, with his art owned and recognized by Robbie Williams, Sean Lennon, Newton Faulkner, Brian Ray and Phil X of Bon Jovi. His hometown of Liverpool is peppered with his works and a Sean Webster mural hangs proudly across the world-famous Strawberry Field. His artwork for UFC Star ‘Meatball’ Molly McCann’s picture book on self-acceptance was showcased in the BT Tower in London.
Sean doesn’t shy away from his bad days. He believes in facing those negative thoughts – living through without shame, or else channelling them for his art. Thus The Foes were born.
Sean marks Keith Haring, Tim Burton, Walt Disney and Dr. Seuss as inspirations.
Our Mission
- Ever-develop The Pals Universe through artistic ventures of all mediums.
- Seek out commercial opportunities, collaborations, and IP cross overs.
- Develop and nurture a community founded on our four tenets: acceptance, love, kindness and support.
- Inspire and support others that are here to create.
The Pals are the harbingers of a whole new wave of creative output. Our community is a safe space where everybody has an equal voice and equal stake. Every one of us has a Pal within and we are here to hear it sing!
Although each Pal is different, they don’t discriminate by shape or colour. They have come into this bleak, grey, post-pandemic, war-torn world of uncertainty to remind us of the greatest human endeavour of all – art.
By minting The Pals, you not only support this movement, you are actively part of it; and by being so you have a very real role in controlling its direction. You will have a platform for your pursuits and a whole bunch of Pals to support you.
Artistic Process
Each Pal is hand drawn in black pen and individually coloured using Photoshop over many long days. No Pal was deemed a mistake and they are all raw doodles, direct from brain to pad. No sketching or rubbing out, just pure, honest creative expression. Then the traits were carefully formulated to be added to each Pal.
Many of the shapes were informed by everyday objects, buildings and abstract feelings. The artwork took six months to complete, much of which was created on the move through urban sprawls. Buses, trains, treks and trudges – all provided time and inspiration for creation of The Pals.
The Pals’ art style is a visual representation of the joy of creativity. It taps into the inner child and that mind-set of constant wonderment. This is the state of true creative freedom.
